    Description

The Science History Institute’s Distinguished Fellowships support established scholars undertaking independent research on the history of chemical or molecular science, broadly construed. Administered through the Beckman Center for the History of Chemistry, the program places the Institute’s collections at the center of a four-month research residency. Projects may approach these materials through environmental, business, labor, or art history, science and technology studies, or other historical fields.

Distinguished Fellows combine their individual projects with participation in Beckman Center scholarly programs and mentorship within the fellowship community. The Institute’s resources include rare books, archives, oral histories, scientific instruments, artifacts, fine art, and modern research materials. The relevance of these collections to the proposed work is a central consideration in selection.
