--- ## Description The Science Integration & Leadership Committee (SILC) Basic Science Travel Award is designed to recognize and support excellence in student research in basic science. The award provides a $500 travel stipend to assist one student per year in presenting their scholarly work at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting. Selection is based on the overall impact and quality of the research to be presented, with the goal of encouraging student participation and excellence in basic science within the ACSM community. --- ## Due Dates - March 13, 2026: Submission deadline for SILC Basic Science Travel Award --- ## Funding Amount - $500 travel award - One award is given per year --- ## Eligibility - Applicants must be an ACSM national member in good standing before applying (chapter membership alone is not sufficient). - Open to undergraduate, graduate, and medical students enrolled full-time. - Applicants must NOT hold a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, MD, DPH, etc.) at the time of application. - Applicants must be the first author and presenter of an abstract accepted in the basic science category at the ACSM Annual Meeting. - Previous SILC Basic Science Award winners are not eligible. --- ## Application Process - Ensure ACSM national membership is current prior to applying. - Submit an abstract in the basic science category to the ACSM Annual Meeting and secure acceptance as first author and presenter. - Complete the online application form by the deadline. - The winner is required to attend the Basic Science Reception at the ACSM Annual Meeting for recognition and is encouraged to attend the ACSM Honors events.
