Description
The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) supports new or enhanced outreach activities that connect scientists with communities in informal settings. The program aims to increase public appreciation of science—particularly biochemistry, molecular biology and related disciplines—and understanding of science’s role in society. It also helps members develop their science communication skills through public engagement.
Projects may be in person, hybrid or fully virtual. Examples include science cafés and fairs, community or school talks, workshops, demonstrations, laboratory visits involving experiments, podcasts, and resources for specific audiences. ASBMB welcomes creative approaches that consider accessibility and reach. Activities should respond to the needs and interests of their intended audiences and promote understanding of the molecular nature of life.
