    Description

This grant, under Horizon Europe, aims to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity by supporting the Science Service for Biodiversity in close collaboration with the European Commission’s Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity (KCBD). The focus is on providing high-quality, evidence-based responses to biodiversity-related policy requests, maintaining and expanding knowledge exchange networks, and developing tools to facilitate evidence-based decision-making. The action also seeks to enhance the capacity of EU and Associated Country researchers and negotiators to engage in global biodiversity processes, such as IPBES and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Multi-stakeholder dialogue and knowledge transfer on nature-based solutions (NbS) are emphasized, supporting the European Green Deal, the EU biodiversity strategy for 2030, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Proposals should build on existing knowledge, collaborate with relevant EU bodies and partnerships, and support the engagement of leading researchers in international biodiversity platforms. A significant portion of the funding is expected to be used for financial support to third parties, particularly to involve relevant experts in policy support and international processes.
