The SDMS Foundation Research Grant supports innovative research that advances diagnostic medical sonography. Run by the charitable arm of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, the program funds unique Literature Review or Original Research topics relevant to the profession and the Foundation. Funding can support data collection, data analysis, and other costs of conducting approved research.
Education and mentorship are integral to the program. Researchers receive guidance from qualified experts and must accept mentorship and/or peer review of their research methodologies. Periodic mentor check-ins help maintain alignment with the approved project scope. Recipients must prepare and submit their findings to the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JDMS) for consideration for publication, connecting the funded work with an opportunity to share results with the profession.
