Description
The Sea Turtles Program, administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), is a competitive grant initiative focused on the conservation and recovery of sea turtle populations throughout the Western Hemisphere. The program targets critical threats such as bycatch in fisheries, habitat degradation, poaching, and predation, with a strong emphasis on innovative conservation approaches, community engagement, and capacity building for stranding response and rehabilitation. Projects may address the development and adoption of turtle-friendly fishing gear, nesting beach protection, lighting reduction, alternative livelihoods for poachers, and the strengthening of regional conservation networks.
