The Southeast Asian Flagship Languages Initiative–Vietnamese (SEAFLI-Vietnamese) provides Boren Scholars and Fellows with an immersive, intensive Vietnamese language program combining a domestic summer session at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an overseas fall semester at the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) in Hanoi, Vietnam. The initiative is designed to help participants achieve professional proficiency in Vietnamese, regardless of their starting level (elementary to advanced). The program also offers the option to extend study through the spring semester for additional coursework, academic internships, or research. SEAFLI-Vietnamese is sponsored by the National Security Education Program (NSEP) and administered by the American Councils for International Education.
