The Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) supports educators and academics undertaking educational research to improve learning, teaching, and assessment in experimental biology. The grant also funds the development and dissemination of open-access teaching resources for higher education. It aims to improve the education of future experimental biologists through evidence-based learning while helping teaching staff demonstrate innovation, secure external funding, and progress in their careers.
Applications must demonstrate transferability and impact across the SEB community. Collaborations between at least two institutions receive favourable consideration because they help outputs reach different educational contexts and increase their potential for publication. Alongside funding, awardees receive training in qualitative and quantitative research methods and educational research ethics, with tailored support to produce high-quality, publishable work.
