Description
Section 306 administrative grants are federal funds made available annually to the South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Program under the Coastal Zone Management Act. The Act established a voluntary partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and coastal states in response to threats to coastal and ocean resources and a lack of coordinated planning across jurisdictions.
The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services uses the funds to implement and administer the state’s coastal management program. The funding particularly supports activities that put the program’s enforceable policies, authorities, and other management techniques into practice.
