Description
Section 309 Coastal Zone Enhancement Grants support continuous improvement of state coastal management programs under the Coastal Zone Management Act. They are part of a voluntary federal–state partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and coastal states. Grants of this type are made available annually to the South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Program.
The grants support program changes that advance state-identified coastal zone enhancement objectives. South Carolina’s NOAA-approved Assessment and Strategy guides this work across nine nationally important areas: wetlands, coastal hazards, public access, marine debris, cumulative and secondary impacts, special area management plans, ocean resources, energy facility siting, and aquaculture.
