The Section 319 Nonpoint Source Implementation Grant Program supports Massachusetts public and private organizations implementing measures to prevent, control, and abate nonpoint source pollution. Established under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, the program is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), through its Nonpoint Source Management Section within the Watershed Planning Program.
For the FFY 2025–2026 cycle, funding supports projects that maintain or restore beneficial uses established in the Massachusetts Surface Water Quality Standards. The highest priority is addressing impairments in Categories 4a, 4c, and 5 of the Massachusetts 2022 Integrated List of Waters, particularly pollution associated with developed land, septic systems, and agriculture. Projects restoring nitrogen-impacted coastal waters and protecting healthy waters are next in priority.
