Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) administers Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Grants using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funds authorized under Section 319(h) of the federal Water Pollution Control Act. The program’s primary purpose is to implement Section 319 Watershed Implementation Plans (WIPs), supporting Pennsylvania’s strategy for watershed restoration and protection.
The program addresses pollution from abandoned mine drainage, urban and agricultural runoff, atmospheric deposition, on-lot sewage systems, earthmoving, stream hydromodification, and timber harvesting. Supported work includes watershed plan revisions, restoration projects, acid mine drainage treatment construction and remediation, and floodplain restoration design and permitting. Application project types also include Tier III monitoring and statewide or regional projects.
