Description
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources administers these subgrants with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funding under Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act. The program supports developing or updating 9-element watershed-based plans and implementing pollution-control practices described in department- and EPA-accepted watershed plans, or alternative plans under specific conditions. Projects must address nonpoint source pollution in line with the Missouri Nonpoint Source Management Plan.
Implementation projects emphasize cost-effective practices with measurable water quality benefits, supported by monitoring or modeling and pollutant-load reduction tracking. Activities may include stream, riparian, wetland, and lake restoration; agricultural and urban best management practices; innovative stormwater demonstrations; and abandoned-mine drainage mitigation. Committed partnerships must support implementation and long-term maintenance, with limited information and outreach activities complementing the work.
