Description
This opportunity, administered by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), supports competitive projects aimed at preventing or reducing nonpoint source (NPS) pollution throughout Georgia. Funding is available for initiatives that implement effective activities and best management practices (BMPs) to improve water quality, particularly in impaired waters, and must align with the state’s Nonpoint Source Management Plan. Projects must be based on an existing watershed-based plan (meeting USEPA’s Nine Elements or a summary thereof) and demonstrate measurable environmental improvements.
Eligible activities include green infrastructure, streambank restoration, urban stormwater controls (not required by NPDES permits), agricultural BMPs, culvert or barrier removals, dirt road improvements, and septic system repairs. All projects must be completed within three years of award.
