Description
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GAEPD) administers this competitive program using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funding under Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act. It supports implementation of Georgia’s Statewide Nonpoint Source Management Plan, emphasizing watershed-based activities that address identified pollution sources and produce measurable water quality improvements.
Supported practices include green infrastructure, streambank restoration, hydromodification, urban stormwater controls beyond permit requirements, agricultural best management practices, culvert replacement, barrier removal, dirt road improvements, and septic repairs or replacements. Projects generally implement watershed-based plans meeting EPA’s Nine Elements of Watershed Planning or a Summary of Nine Elements. The program also supports protection of healthy waters, with specific planning exceptions described below.
