Description
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) administers the Section 5304 Planning and Research Program to support statewide and nonmetropolitan transportation planning. The program funds cooperative, continuous, and comprehensive multimodal planning in metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas, informing long-range transportation plans and short-range investment priorities. Supported work includes transportation plans and programs, project planning and evaluation, technical studies, and comprehensive intermodal planning that considers relationships among land use and transportation modes.
Program priorities include economic vitality, competitiveness, productivity, and efficiency; safety and security for motorized and nonmotorized users; and accessibility and mobility for people and freight. Planning also supports environmental protection, energy conservation, quality of life, consistency with planned growth and economic development, connectivity across modes, efficient system management and operation, and preservation of existing transportation infrastructure.
