Description
Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) administers Section 5310 funding to remove transportation barriers and expand mobility options for seniors and individuals with disabilities in rural areas. The program supports services planned, designed, and carried out specifically for these populations when existing public transportation is insufficient, inappropriate, or unavailable. It also supports projects exceeding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, improving access to fixed-route transit, reducing reliance on complementary paratransit, and providing transportation alternatives.
Eligible work includes accessible buses and vans, lifts and ramps, transit technology, mobility management, vehicle preventive maintenance, and contracted transportation services. Nontraditional activities include travel training, volunteer driver programs, accessible pathways to transit stops, wayfinding improvements, accessible taxi or vanpool vehicles, and incremental costs of same-day or door-to-door service.
