Description
Section 5337 State of Good Repair grants support capital work that keeps high-intensity fixed-guideway and bus systems in good repair. The program funds maintenance, replacement, and rehabilitation of transit assets and may support development and implementation of Transit Asset Management plans. Michigan’s Department of Transportation (MDOT) lists the program among its federal passenger transportation programs.
Eligible work includes rolling stock, track, line equipment and structures, signals and communications, power equipment and substations, passenger stations and terminals, security systems, maintenance facilities and equipment, and operational support equipment such as computer hardware and software. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) also describes the program as supporting transit agencies that operate fixed-guideway and high-intensity bus systems.
