The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (811 PRA) program supports innovative state-level strategies to increase access to new and existing affordable supportive housing for persons with disabilities. It promotes collaboration between housing agencies and state health and human services/Medicaid agencies to expand access to supportive services. HUD aims to strengthen existing partnerships while encouraging other states to adopt similar approaches.
The program gives states flexibility to award and administer funds addressing shortages of affordable, integrated housing for persons with disabilities. Housing agencies may administer rental assistance contracts for eligible properties directly or contract with other qualified parties to administer the assistance.
