The Bigglesworth Family Foundation’s Sector Supporting Grants strengthen the legal services sector through hubs, recruitment and retention, and advocacy. Hubs generally do not provide direct legal services; instead, they provide technical assistance and substantive back-up to direct-service programs. Supported work can include training, research, advocacy, support centers, think tanks, design labs, and impact litigation.
The program also supports a strong, consistent pipeline of legal services professionals through Public Service Loan Forgiveness programs, loan assistance repayment programs, and staff well-being. Advocacy funding supports the legal services sector but excludes lobbying on new laws, legislation, or candidates. BFF primarily funds California work, with national support focused on access to justice, leadership development, and hubs and think tanks for civil legal aid.
