--- ## Description The Seed Grants program from the ALS Association supports the initial stages of innovative ALS research by funding one or two critical experiments with the potential to drive high-impact discoveries. The program is designed to help researchers gather preliminary data, accelerate the development of new treatments and cures, optimize existing care and therapies, or contribute to ALS prevention. By providing early support, these grants enable researchers to establish proof-of-concept and position their projects for future funding and larger partnerships. --- ## Due Dates - No open application cycle at this time. - The next anticipated call for proposals is expected to follow the annual cycle; exact dates will be posted on the [ALS Association funding page](https://www.als.org/research/funding-opportunities). *All dates are anticipated based on the program's annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - Typical award: $50,000 total funding over 1 year per project. - Funding is intended for one or two critical experiments to generate preliminary data. - Designed to help recipients secure future, larger grants or industry partnerships. --- ## Eligibility - Open to individuals worldwide with the skills, knowledge, and resources to carry out the proposed project. - Applicants do **not** need a scientific background in ALS research; established investigators, early career investigators, and those from outside the ALS field are encouraged. - Junior postdoctoral fellows are generally not eligible as principal investigators (except for the Milton Safenowitz Postdoctoral Fellowship Program). - Multiple active ALS Association grants are permitted per awardee. - Applicants may apply to multiple open funding opportunities if their proposed research is relevant. --- ## Application Process - Application is a two-step process: 1. Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). 2.
