Description
The Arts and Science Council’s SEED Grants support creative individuals in Charlotte-Mecklenburg through mentorship or recognition of the quality of their work. Created in 2017 and offered annually, the program connects ASC Fellows with creatives in their communities. Awards help recipients expand their practice, experiment with new tools, and acquire skills that elevate their overall work.
Supported work spans visual art, literature, film and media arts, dance, and music. Recipients have used grants for materials, specialized equipment, studio improvements, workshops, training, documentation, collaboration, and new creative projects. Recent examples include steel sculptures, experimental papermaking, writing retreats, music recordings, photography projects, and a docuseries centering Black women in filmmaking.
