Description
William & Mary’s Global Research Institute (GRI) Seed Program supports early-stage faculty- and staff-led research initiatives that address complex challenges beyond academia. The 2027–2028 cycle combines startup funding with substantial institutional support to help collaborative teams launch applied research programs and develop enduring relationships with external funders and practitioners. Pilot research is not required, but PIs should bring topical experience and existing connections to communities or partners.
Selected teams work with GRI’s professional research staff and external experts. Support includes a dedicated Research Manager, strategic guidance from the Director of Research, fiscal and administrative assistance, partnership development, external proposal support, and communications expertise. The goal is to move research toward real-world impact while building a path to sustainable external funding.
