The SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium is run by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and funded by Chevron. It develops leadership, teamwork, and communication skills for 50 student participants through leadership coaching, panel discussions, real-world problem solving, and cross-chapter collaboration. The program culminates at the annual International Meeting for Applied Geoscience and Energy (IMAGE).
Travel grants support students’ attendance at IMAGE. Before the event, participants join virtual workshops to strengthen communication skills and connect with fellow attendees and Chevron mentors. During the symposium, students present their chapters’ achievements in a dedicated poster session. Awardees are expected to share their experiences and insights with their chapter communities, extending the program’s benefits beyond the event.
