Due Dates (Anticipated): October 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: £500–£4,000 per award
Summary: Supports seminars, short conferences and socio-legal exchange events on any subject relevant to the socio-legal community.
Key Information: Applicants must be current SLSA members in good standing; events cannot serve only one institution or exclusively SLSA members.
The Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) Seminar Competition supports the delivery of seminars and short conferences that exchange and disseminate socio-legal knowledge. Subject matter is unrestricted, provided applicants demonstrate relevance to the socio-legal community. Academic seminars and workshops are welcome, as are outreach events and engagements with non-academic organisations that have wider local or regional significance.
The competition welcomes innovative approaches and activities that build capacity in socio-legal research, introduce scholarship to new audiences, or increase awareness of theoretical and methodological approaches. Proposals may seek complementary funding alongside an SLSA award. Although the program page includes series of events within its scope, the guidance cautions that applications for more than one event are unlikely to receive funding.
