Description
Cancer Research UK’s Senior Cancer Research Fellowship supports group leaders to further develop independent research programmes and build reputations as world leaders in cancer research. Its remit includes basic cancer biology, preclinical studies, imaging, radiotherapy, engineering and physical sciences applied to cancer, population research, and early detection. Proposals must clearly articulate a cancer-related question and explain how the work could change understanding, prevention, diagnosis or treatment.
Strategic priorities include early detection and cancers of unmet need: brain, lung, oesophageal, pancreatic, liver and stomach cancer. Supported work ranges from tumour biology, metastasis and treatment resistance to imaging technologies, radiotherapy optimisation, cancer risk, prevention interventions and policy. Early detection research may address biological mechanisms, risk stratification, computational approaches, and models of early cancer or precancerous conditions.
