The Indiana Academy of Science (IAS) Senior Research Grants Program supports innovative, scientifically meritorious research that advances knowledge and strengthens science throughout Indiana. Supported by the John S. Wright Fund since 1964, the program funds IAS members and eligible students and researchers they sponsor. The Research Grants Committee administers the program and determines awards.
Supported work includes self-contained investigations, pilot studies, and projects that may support future scientific discovery. IAS encourages novel, evidence-informed projects with broad or transferable scientific impact. However, a proposal need not lead to a large external grant: modest, locally focused studies may also fit the Academy’s mission. Recent awards span biomaterials, environmental remediation, microbial genetics, cellular biology, cardiovascular development, prairie ecology, and immune-cell research.
