Description
The Serve and Stay Fredericksburg Fund, administered by the Community Foundation, helps public-serving employees establish roots in the city they serve. Rising housing costs have made living locally increasingly difficult for teachers, first responders, municipal employees, and other public-serving professionals. The fund provides targeted assistance at housing transition points to support workforce recruitment, retention, and long-term community stability.
Assistance supports mortgage rate buy-downs for home purchases and security deposits or first month’s rent for rental moves within the City of Fredericksburg. Rather than addressing housing affordability broadly, the initiative focuses on strengthening the workforce that sustains the city’s public institutions, schools, and public safety services. Teachers, first responders, and instructional-focused school employees receive priority consideration.
