Description
The Michigan Department of Transportation’s Service Initiatives Program supports projects that advance and improve mobility through Michigan’s passenger transportation system. This state-funded program can support demonstrations and implementation of new technology, innovative service models, regional services, research, training, planning, and coordination. It is funded through the Comprehensive Transportation Fund and operates under Act 51 of the Public Acts of 1951, as amended, and departmental policy.
Applicants may propose projects throughout the year. MDOT may also issue calls for proposals or challenge grants addressing specific state goals and objectives; those solicitations may set requirements different from the program’s regular instructions.
