Description
The Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP), administered by the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, is the first federal funding stream dedicated solely to providing direct intervention and related assistance for victims of sexual assault. SASP funds a range of services including advocacy, accompaniment to courts and medical facilities, crisis intervention, support groups, and comprehensive service coordination for adult, youth, and child victims, as well as their families and others affected by sexual violence. The program prioritizes support for rape crisis centers and dual programs offering both domestic and sexual violence services, with a focus on underserved and culturally specific populations.
Services funded may include 24-hour hotlines, crisis intervention, advocacy, short-term counseling, referral and outreach, and the development of accessible materials for victims.
