The Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry (SHAC) offers an annual Award Scheme supporting research into the history of chemistry and alchemy, alongside activities that develop either field as an academic subject. Research Awards help new and independent scholars meet practical research costs, including archival and library work, image reproduction, and eligible travel to present conference papers.
Subject Development Awards support seminars, workshops, colloquia, lecture series, conference sessions, conferences, exhibitions, and outreach activities. The scheme is open to Society members resident in the UK and elsewhere, and funded activities need not take place in the UK. Both strands provide a two-year window for completing funded work.
