Description
Glaucoma Research Foundation’s Shaffer Grants provide one-year seed funding for scientists and clinicians pursuing high-impact pilot research. The program supports promising ideas that could develop into broader lines of inquiry and improve understanding or treatment of glaucoma.
Applicants identify one primary focus area: genetics and genomics; retinal ganglion cell neuroprotection, regeneration, or enhancement; therapeutics and drug delivery; intraocular pressure regulation and aqueous humor outflow; immunology and glial cells; or clinical and epidemiological research. The program also encourages collaboration, involvement of people with glaucoma, communication of findings, and treatments that maintain or improve quality of life.
