Description
The Office of Grants and Research (OGR), part of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, administers the Shannon Community Safety Initiative. It funds regional, multidisciplinary efforts to reduce gang and youth violence through coordinated prevention, intervention, law enforcement, prosecution, and reentry work.
The initiative draws on the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s Comprehensive Gang Model. Its five strategy areas are social intervention, suppression, opportunity provision, organizational change, and community mobilization. A related research component supports sites through Local Action Research Partners and a Statewide Research Partner; those opportunities have separate program pages.
