Description
Shared Technology Awards, offered through UCSF’s Resource Allocation Program (RAP), support the purchase of a large single piece of research equipment or two pieces that form a system. Software and hardware qualify as shared technology, and funding may also support data hardware needs. The technology should be suitable for use by multiple investigators. Placement in a campus shared resource or core space, with access for the broader campus community, is encouraged but not required.
The program emphasizes novel technology not otherwise available at UCSF. Review considers the anticipated users, the technology’s significance to their research, cost-sharing, and plans for managing and maintaining the resource. Funding agencies make decisions independently, considering scientific review, research focus, investigator qualifications, and alignment with their strategic goals.
