Summary: Supports the purchase of large, shareable research equipment or systems to enhance collaborative research at UCSF.
Key Information: Only UCSF faculty, Professional Research Series, and Librarian Series are eligible; not open to residents, fellows, or postdocs.
The Shared Technology Awards provide funding for the acquisition of large single pieces of equipment or integrated systems intended for shared use by multiple investigators at UCSF. The program also supports data hardware needs, and both software and hardware qualify as shared technology. While it is encouraged that equipment be housed within campus shared resources to maximize access, this is not required. Proposals must justify the need for the new technology, outline a management and sharing plan, and explain the benefit to co-investigators’ research. Emphasis is placed on collaborative use, cost-sharing, and the advancement of novel technologies not otherwise available on campus.
