This opportunity funds the purchase of large, shared research equipment or technology at UCSF. Proposals may request support for a single large instrument, or two pieces if part of a system, as well as data hardware needs (including both software and hardware considered as shared technology). Equipment is ideally placed in a campus core facility and made available to the wider UCSF research community, though this is not required. Applications must demonstrate the novelty and necessity of the technology, detail a management and sharing plan, and describe the benefit to multiple co-investigators' research programs. Cost-sharing among departments, research grants, and other sources is expected. Selection is based on the quality and quantity of anticipated users, justification for the technology, and the management plan for sharing and maintaining the equipment.
