The Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era (SHGAPE) offers the OAH Conference Travel Grant to help scholars participate in the Organization of American Historians conference. The need-based grant supports contingent faculty and other presenters without personal or institutional resources to attend and present on conference panels. It funds conference participation rather than a separate research project, with expenses including travel, registration, accommodation, and meals.
SHGAPE’s program committee selects recipients based on both need and merit and may divide the award among multiple scholars. Recipients also receive a ticket to the SHGAPE luncheon, where the award is presented. This grant is for scholars other than Ph.D. students; SHGAPE offers a separate conference travel award for doctoral students.
