The Shock Society’s New Investigator Awards recognize early-career research in trauma, shock, and sepsis, supporting investigators as they develop toward independent research careers. The competition is administered by the Society’s Awards Committee and centers on the scientific merit of abstracts submitted to the Shock Society Annual Meeting. Eligible competitors are predoctoral students and research fellows with limited postdoctoral research training.
Five finalists are selected to present their findings at the Annual Meeting and answer questions from Awards Committee members. Each finalist receives a plaque, a cash prize, and travel support, with the first-place winner announced at the Sunday Award Night dinner. The competition also requires applicants to submit a manuscript arising from their work to the journal SHOCK and agree to publication if accepted.
