The Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) at Stanford University offers two postdoctoral fellowship positions each year to nurture the next generation of Asia scholars. The program supports research and writing on political, economic, or social change in the Asia-Pacific region, including Northeast, Southeast, and South Asia. It also supports research on international relations and international political economy within the region.
Made possible by the generosity of Walter H. Shorenstein, the fellowship places junior scholars within the Center’s academic community. Fellows pursue individual projects while contributing to Center seminars, activities, and publications. Their proposed fellowship work must include a publishable product. Appointments for the 2027–2028 academic year begin in fall 2027.
