Description
The Royal Society’s Short Industry Fellowship supports short, mutually beneficial research collaborations between UK academia and industry. Part of its Industry programme, the scheme enables academic or industrial researchers, and/or their nominated postdoctoral researchers, to undertake secondments in the other sector. It funds work across the natural sciences, including biological and biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics.
The scheme aims to strengthen knowledge exchange in science and technology, develop researchers’ careers through experience outside their employing organisation, and establish links that may grow into longer-term collaborations. Early-career researchers are particularly encouraged, as are collaborations with early-stage companies that have established research teams and facilities. Longer-term partnerships may subsequently seek support through the Royal Society’s Industry Fellowship scheme.
