Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy supports planning and on-the-ground projects that expand access to nature and develop sustainable recreation and tourism in California’s Sierra-Cascade region. The program seeks to reduce the effects of recreation overuse on natural and cultural resources while strengthening recreation economies.
For the FY 2025–2027 funding cycle, projects must address at least one of three focus areas: climate-resilient recreation infrastructure, improved access to nature, or landscape-scale assessments of risks to recreation assets. Projects must have multiple benefits, such as pairing recreation with education, water-quality improvements, or habitat protection. Eligible work can include planning for specific future site improvements, accessible trails, and improvements that protect natural resources.
