Description
Established in 2004, this grant is a partnership between the Sigma Foundation for Nursing and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF). It encourages qualified nurses to advance nursing care through research focused on end-of-life care. Proposals may support pilot or developmental research, and projects must be ready for implementation when funding is received.
Funded research has addressed family caregiver readiness for palliative care, values elicitation among patients with left ventricular assist devices and their caregivers, and nurses’ experiences as family caregivers. Other supported studies have explored informal advance care planning among Black people on dialysis and coping, social support, and psychological distress among Black mothers after stillbirth.
