Description
The Sign Replacement Program, administered by the Iowa Department of Transportation, provides annual grants to cities and counties across Iowa for the replacement of damaged, worn out, obsolete, or substandard regulatory, warning, and school area road signs and signposts. The program is not intended for the installation of new signage at previously unsigned locations, but rather for maintaining and improving existing road safety infrastructure. Eligible applicants may receive reimbursement for the cost of qualifying signs, posts, and bases that have been replaced in the calendar year prior to the application deadline. The program is highly competitive, with awards made on a first-come-first-served basis, and entities not funded in the previous cycle given priority.
