    Description

    The Liu Institute for Global Issues in UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA) offers this award to support student research broadly related to nuclear disarmament and global security. Funded through an endowment provided by The Simons Foundation Canada, the program aims to advance UBC students’ understanding of disarmament and arms control issues across disciplines.

    Supported projects may address nuclear weapons and energy in Canada, anti-nuclear activism, the implications of acquiring nuclear energy technology, environmental and public health impacts, or artistic responses to the nuclear age. Recipients produce a research paper or another suitable product, such as a long-form journalistic article. They are also expected to participate in relevant seminars, workshops, webinars, and other activities organized by the Liu Institute or SPPGA.
