Description
The SIR Giveback Project is the Society of Interventional Radiology’s international visiting professor program. It connects interventional radiology (IR) educators with hosts in developing countries and lower-middle income regions that have demonstrated an educational need. Opportunities include Africa, Latin America and Asia. Visits usually combine a national IR conference with teaching-site visits before or after the meeting. In countries without a national society, visits follow a mutually agreed schedule.
Visiting professors may deliver lectures, provide consultations, participate in patient evaluations and perform procedures where host-country regulations allow. SIR matches educators and hosts according to availability, expertise and educational needs. The Giveback committee facilitates educational content and visit arrangements, while SIR provides introductory materials about its programs and information about host nations’ meetings.
