The Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS) offers Postgraduate Research Support Grants to help postgraduate members undertake or complete research contributing to Latin American studies in the UK. The scheme supports fieldwork, archive visits, research equipment and the production of research outputs, alongside costs associated with caring responsibilities.
Assessment focuses on project quality, potential significance, budget justification, the academic reference and alignment with SLAS’s aims and charitable purposes. Priority goes to applicants without institutional support and normally to students registered for a PhD. In line with its Climate Action Plan, SLAS encourages less frequent trips and overland travel where possible, and welcomes budgets that include more sustainable options even when these cost more.
