Description
The Sloan Research Fellowships, administered by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, recognize and support outstanding early-career scientists whose creativity, innovation, and independent research accomplishments signal the potential to revolutionize their fields. Awarded annually, the fellowships support fundamental research in chemistry, computer science, Earth system science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, and physics.
The program combines recognition of significant work already achieved with flexible support for continuing research. Independent selection committees of distinguished scientists in each field assess candidates’ accomplishments, creativity, and potential to become scientific leaders. Competitive nominees generally have accumulated several years of significant independent research after completing their Ph.D. The Foundation encourages nominations of qualified candidates from all backgrounds and welcomes eligible faculty from U.S. and Canadian degree-granting institutions, including institutions without previous Sloan Fellows.
