The Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) supports international collaborative activities that build connections with socio-legal scholars and communities beyond the UK. Launched in 2023 and first awarded in 2024, the scheme provides seed funding to initiate exploratory partnerships or significantly develop existing relationships, laying groundwork for collaborative research and capacity-building.
Supported activities can include workshops, lectures, seminars, work-in-progress presentations, secondments, knowledge exchange, and methodological training, delivered in person or online. Partners may be academics, socio-legal organisations or communities, NGOs, civil society groups, or professional bodies relevant to socio-legal work. Collaborations may involve the Global North, Global South, or both. Earmarked support for Global South collaborations aims to facilitate socio-legal studies where particular barriers obstruct this work.
