The Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) Research Grants Scheme supports research across the breadth of socio-legal studies. It aims to encourage practical research initiatives where other funding sources are unavailable, rather than focusing on a single theme. The SLSA Board has awarded more than £200,000 through the scheme.
Supported projects explore law in relation to social experiences, institutions and contemporary developments. Recent topics include asylum and conscription, drug testing, generative AI in legal education and practice, forced displacement, platform workers’ experiences of labour law, and legal consciousness. A proportion of the funding pot is ring-fenced for researchers in precarious employment.
