Description
Minnesota’s Lake Superior Coastal Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, uses federal pass-through funding from NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management to help balance coastal resource protection with places for people to live, work, and play. Capacity grants support work in Minnesota’s Lake Superior coastal area that advances coastal management.
Projects may protect habitats, reduce risks from storms and erosion, safeguard water quality, improve public access, support sustainable coastal development, or produce information that helps governments and residents manage land and water. The program has awarded more than $15 million to over 700 coastal projects since 2001.
