Description
The Small Livestock Operation Grant is administered by the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food through the Utah Grazing Improvement Program (GIP). It provides cost-share support for practical projects that improve rangeland management and sustainability for small livestock producers operating in Utah. Project examples include water developments, fencing, and vegetation treatments.
The broader Grazing Improvement Program was established in 2006 under the Rangeland Improvement Act (HB145). The act also guided the formation of State and Regional Grazing Advisory Boards to strengthen the voices of producers using Utah’s rangelands. This grant focuses on improvements to those rangelands rather than acquiring land or livestock.
