Description
The European Space Agency (ESA) runs this non-competitive call through its ACCESS Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) programme. Developed with ELES, Slovenia’s combined transmission and distribution system operator, it supports proof-of-concept studies and pilot projects addressing practical electricity-network needs. Priorities include critical infrastructure protection, climate resilience and emergency preparedness.
Projects should develop commercially sustainable, pre-operational services rather than pure academic research or basic scientific data exploration. Relevant capabilities include satellite Earth Observation, communications, navigation and satellite-enhanced forecasting, combined with AI, analytics and digital twins. The call covers forecasting and grid operations, Dynamic Thermal Rating enhancement, and asset intelligence and situational awareness. Applicants may address ELES use cases or related requirements identified with other customers, with both routes considered equally in evaluation.
