The Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program (SIFP) provides in-residence opportunities for independent research or study closely aligned with Smithsonian collections, facilities, and staff expertise. Fellowships are available for graduate students, predoctoral candidates, postdoctoral scholars, and senior researchers. The program supports research in a wide range of fields, including animal behavior, ecology, environmental science, anthropology, astrophysics, earth sciences, evolutionary biology, folklife, history of science and technology, art history, materials research, molecular biology, and the social and cultural history of the United States. Fellows are hosted by Smithsonian research staff, with access to unparalleled resources and mentorship.
